1st Annual Golf Cart Crawl - A Huge Sucess

Thanks to everyone who participted in the 1st Annual Golf Cart Crawl. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of carts that came out for the event, and happy to see we even attracted a motorcycle and a moped. Who says two wheelers can't Crawl?

Despite being slightly thrown off by last minute police investigation due to non-other than Hole #7 (which will remain unnamed - they know who they are!), the atmosphere was laidback and fun. It seems as though everyone remained honest - no doubt due to Susan sitting outside each bathroom and marking strokes for anyone who used the lavatory (Thanks Susan). I was happy to see so many dressed in golf attire: plaid, argyle, visors, etc. Heck, we even caught the attention of Hugh Hefner and Mr. Sugar Daddy. Certainly, pimps golf too.

After adding the score sheets, I was amazed to see how many crawlers actually completed each hole as a hole-in-one. Not only that, but very few used their optional mulligan and opted to partake in the Scotch and Water (present company NOT included). It seems that the other largely unpopular drink was the Guiness, especially by those who chose it at a bar that only offered it as draft beer, resulting in 4 extra ounces over the clever few who ordered it at bars that offer it in a mere 12oz bottle. Gotta plan ahead on these things!

As for penalties, I believe there was only one Water Hazard and that was due to a bartender. Most crawlers of course had a few bunker shots, with the exception of the winner, Mad Mike Moyar. Although I never did witness any "In The Rough" penalties, it seems as though some did occur at the end of the event (Shawn can tell you more details - he cleaned it up) and I am quite sure my roommate experienced a little In-The-Rough the following morning (good thing her score card was already turned in).

All in all, we only had one crawler fall off, one golf cart lost a windshield, and one golf cart that truely "crawled" into the last stop after almost stalling in an intersection. Not bad for a first time event that brought out almost 45 crawlers. I have to of course throw in a special thanks to all of the bars who participated. Their gift certificates and generosity really made the event a success.

I already have requests for the next Golf Cart Crawl, so something tells me you crawlers won't have to wait a whole year to repeat the event. In the meantime, keep drinking and stay drunk!
